Mike enjoyed a successful journalism career that included newspapers, various guest gigs as a television talking head, a seven-year tenure as a sports columnist at the Toronto Sun, trips to the Olympics, Stanley Cup playoffs and the  Super Bowl and thirteen books, including M is for Maple, the bestselling alphabet book in the history of Canadian publishing. 

Mike has scored on a penalty shot against Leafs goaltending great Curtis Joseph, broken a bunch of stories and written or prattled on about about men, women, children, horses, fish, sports, politics, love, marriage, cancer, kindness and several  subjects in between.
